SODELPA, with the support of other political parties, will amend and repeal the 2013 Constitution through legal means, its draft manifesto says. If it becomes the Government, it will

• Ensure God’s rightful place in our supreme law

• Uphold Christian principles and values and

• Ensure respect for all religious faiths and religious freedom for all citizens.

The draft document says it will prepare a new Constitution “that will be acceptable to a great majority of the people of Fiji.”

It will also seek an advisory opinion from the Supreme Court on the status of the 1997 Constitution.

If it happens, it will be the end of the secular state, equal citizenry and common name or identity of Fijian.

It will also mean a return to the previous race-based voting system.

The final version of the manifesto will be launched soon.
