George Fonua is the founder and managing director of Locomotive Consulting and will be part of the Fiji Institute of Accountants (FIA) 2018 Congress.

The 46th annual FIA Congress jointly sponsored by Vodafone and Westpac will be held from May 18 to 19 at the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa and features nine speakers.

Mr Fonua is an experienced change agent, coach and speaker who believes in the power of constructive, trust based business cultures.

With a corporate background at BHP and OneSteel, Mr Fonua understands highly dynamic and complex business environments.

FIA President Finau Nagera said: “The theme for the FIA 2018 Congress is Growth Through Synergy: Collaboration, Innovation and Resilience.

“George Fonua is one of the most experienced and leading experts in the field of change management, innovation and people-performance management.

“We need to hear from these experts to give us a different view of how we are working and the working cultures that we are creating in our organisations.”

She added that he is one of the most sought after keynote speakers and regularly speaks at conferences to some of Australia’s leading leadership, business improvement and organisational culture transformation consultants.

Mr Fonua was born in Ma’ufanga, Tonga, but is based in Australia where his rapidly growing consulting company consults across the Asia Pacific region.

He started his career in Australia as a change agent forging significant experience in operational management and business transformation.

His 18 years experience of leading change in a highly dynamic and complex business environment gave him the opportunity to develop and rigorously test a truly unique, cutting-edge leadership, team and business transformation methodology called the ‘Blue Bus’.

According to the the Blue Bus Revolution website, Blue Bus Playshops are a series of customised workplace programmes designed for all employees.

It provides an innovative approach to organisational and personal growth where experienced coaches lead participants through experiential play and collaborative exercises.

It works to change mindsets and result in high performance cultures of excellence.

The FIA Congress Organising Committee chair Rajeshwar Singh said: “The Blue Bus concept is already used by some of Fiji’s leading companies.

“It involves leadership development, engaging staff, customer relations, good governance and ethical behavior. All of this in-turn leads to a culture of excellence.

“He has worked with many of Australia’s biggest companies like Origin Energy, Sanitarium, Sydney Airport and Newcastle University to name a few,” said Mr Singh.
