$62K Robbery Suspect Seeks Bail

A 26-year-old man alleged to have robbed the Western Union Fexco branch at Centrepoint, Nasinu, was remanded in custody after appearing at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

The accused, King Shan Josua Nabuto Salauca Manono, appeared before Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa in a special court sitting.The accused faces five counts – two counts of act intended to cause grievous harm, aggravated robbery, resisting arrest and giving false information to a public servant.

On the grievous harm charge, Manono allegedly caused grievous harm to Isireli Bogileka and Sarvesh Pram Goundar by hitting them with a pinch bar.

Manono and others allegedly stole $FJD30,688.69 and $32,256 in foreign currency from Western Union, all to the total value of $62,944.69. On the fourth count, he allegedly resisted arrest and is alleged to have given a false name to a police corporal.

Police prosecutor Corporal Sanil Kumar served disclosures.

Magistrate Boseiwaqa adjourned the case to April 13, 2018, to be called in the Nasinu Magistrates Court.

The accused’s bail will be determined by the Nasinu court.
