Rugby Academy Fiji beat Rotorua Boys High School 24-7 in a friendly match at Bidesi Park in Suva, yesterday.

The Kiwis arrived on Thursday for a nine-day visit.

Rugby Academy Fiji coach Kelemete Leawere said the game was played in good spirit and was a good learning experience for both sides.

“We played a typical Fijian rugby game – running it from everywhere. We were organised in attack and played with a lot of physicality but were a bit lost in defence,” Leawere said.

Rotorua Boys High School coach John Connor said the team came to Fiji to test themselves.

“Fiji’s got good players and it is good experience for our boys,” Connor said.

He said they would visit a number of schools in the Suva area.

“This is part of our capacity building rugby pro¬gramme in the Pacific Islands. We are on a tight sched¬ule, there is a lot of training and our side has a big link to Fiji.”
