After a year of struggle, Rajesh Autar has finally opened a nightclub in Labasa.

StarBar Nighclub, located in the main street of Labasa Town, opened for business on Friday.

Mr Autar lived in Australia for 25 years before coming to Fiji. The 40-year-old has other businesses in Labasa too, including a second-hand clothing outlet and a juice bar.

Mr Autar said he was glad, after the challenges he had overcome, that his nightclub was finally open.

“When trying to open the nightclub, I had a lot of challenges like getting licence and I am glad that I was able to overcome all of it,” he said.

“Our club has so much to offer, especially the sound system, light shows, quality services, DJ and tight security. We ensure that everyone that comes to our club will feel safe and enjoy themselves.

“I have a good team with me and we will ensure that the people of Labasa enjoy themselves when they come to our club.”

He said an investment was essential for Vanua Levu, especially Labasa, as Government had been encouraging investment in the Northern Division.

“I want to invest in Labasa because Labasa town is developing,” he said.

“I am able to employ Fijians and hope to continue to do so when I invest in my future businesses.

“One thing unique about our club is that we serve a few drinks with pure sugarcane juice.

“We also have the most well-known DJ in Labasa, Inoke Cakitaki.”

Mr Autar reserved thanks for a host of people at the opening.

“I am thankful to a lot of people that made my dream come true, especially my wife and my mother and to my team who work with me at the club.”

Mr Autar said he plans to extend his club in the near future and even open one in Suva.

He is also not worried about competition.

“I don’t think there will be competition here because the more night clubs there are the better for the people of Labasa,” he said.
