Marist Brother’s High School sprinters Joseva Tabakaucoro and Tony Lemeki are in doubt for the Coca –Cola Games at the ANZ Stadium on April 19-20.

Tabakaucoro pulled a hamstring while running in the 100 metres heats at the Shop N Save Fiji Athletics Fiji National Championship which former Suva Grammar School sprinter Francis Kirikirikula won.

The Bau, Tailevu, native cried in pain and was taken to hospital.

Athletics Fiji development officer Albert Miller said the injury was common for elite athletes.

“It could take weeks or months for him to recover from a Grade 2 injury,” he said.

Meanwhile, blue ribbon top contender Lemeki also pulled a hamstring during a training session.

He is positive that he will recover before the Fiji Finals and will help MBHS win back the title.

“I am positive, I am currently on rehab and I am confident that I will recover in time for the games,” he said.

“I’m expecting strong competi¬tion from athletes of other schools. “Through God, nothing is impossi¬ble and I would be able to achieve my goal with the assistance from my coach and also my dedication towards my training,” he said.

MBHS was second in last year’s Fiji Finals winning 10 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze medals.
