Young  Voters

Amenatave Yaconisau, Delainavesi, Lami

The blameworthiness and lack of interest attributed to youth voters by aspiring SODELPA Candidate Lynda Tabuya(1/4) doesn’t give much choice to young people.

Though most know policies, this is against people’s liberty to choose!

Screen Teachers

Savenaca Vakaliwaliwa, Suva

How can we not react after reading about a primary school teacher in the Northern Division who has been charged with seven counts of sexual assault (FS 30/3)?

It is alleged that the male teacher defiled and raped seven students, all male between the ages of nine to ten on different days within a week!

The Sex Offenders Registry is for those who have been convicted of sex offences, but what measures are being taken to screen teachers and those who will be entrusted to look after our young people?

We all want to know if this is a new teacher on his first teaching position or an experienced one.

An experienced teacher means this might not be the first time for such an alleged sexual offence on students.

Ministry of Education, the ball is in your court, do the right thing!

Former Players

Shariff. A Shah, Savusavu

We were told to die for our country whenever we pulled on that white jersey. Only those, like me, who played for the national team will understand this

Today Savenaca Nasara and Pita Dau have left.

Fiji FA has put forward their contribution in the papers. Thank you.

I ask the president and the CEO … is that it?

The CEO has been quoted as saying all great things about these two legends. Where were the president and the CEO when these two were alive and struggled to put food on the table for their loved ones daily?

Did you ever honour past players, at least with a free ticket to weekly games or tournments?

It’s like giving medicine after death.

Simon Peters one of the greatest ever players Fiji produced is lying in his grave at Vaterekuka. Have the CEO and President ever visited his house, forget about his grave.

Easter Hope

Wise Muavono, Balawa, Lautoka

Were you looking forward to Easter with anticipation and excitement?

During the Lenten season, we have had an opportunity to ponder our personal life, with its ups and downs. We should have examined our current relationship with God.

Such reflection and examination will enable us to draw closer to God because we begin to put our living into perspective. Christian hope is Easter hope.

It is different to the hope we normally encounter in the world today.

It is hope that is totally contingent on a particular event and because that event has

Happened our hope is secure.

Not wishful-thinking hope, but guaranteed hope.

Easter is here and we are being given a fresh opportunity to live as Easter people.
