Morale remains high for the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Fiji Infantry Regiment Battalion (1FIR) in the Golan Heights after six months of their operation there.

Director peacekeeping and advisor to the RFMF Commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Pacolo Luveni, said that on March 25 the battalion conducted its parade to mark the first half of this contingent’s tour of duty with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) at Camp Ziouani Alpha Side, Golan Heights.

“The parade was inspected by the 1FIR Commander Officer  Lieutenant-Colonel Sakeasi Rabitu Baka,” he said.

After the parade he said they celebrated Palm Sunday.

After the Palm Sunday church service he said they gathered at the Lodoni Hall, Golan Heights for morning tea and a traditional isevusevu ceremony for the youths in appreciation of their participation during the Palm Sunday service.

On March 30, their chaplain conducted an early morning church service during which the soldiers took part in  Holy Communion to celebrate Easter.
