Vuli Waqa confirmed the 2018 Coca-Cola Games set for the ANZ Stadium next week  would  go ahead as scheduled.

The Fiji Secondary School Athletics Association (FSSAA) general secretary said nothing has changed despite the closure of schools due to the wet weather caused by Tropical Cyclone Keni.

He said the official opening will be on April 19 (Thursday) and the games proper starts on  April 20 (Friday) where 151 schools (excluding schools maritime zones) have confirmed participation.

Waqa added the Coke Games will continue as normal.

“Right now 151 schools have registered and it is hard to say whether the number of students will decease due to the wet weather.  I am positive that come next week, the weather will be back to normal.”

Three schools will take part for the first time this year.
