My father has died! My father has died!

Those were the words lamented by five-year-old Joveci Roqiqi Junior at their home in Varoko, Ba yesterday.

His father Joveci Roqiqi, 49, collapsed on top of the roof of their home while placing concrete blocks to secure the roof on Tuesday morning, when TC Keni was closing in on the Western Division.

The victim’s mother Merelisoni Nabaro was lost for words when a team from this newspaper visited their home.

“I could not believe what has happened, my son was a hard-working fisherman who cared for his family,” she said.

“His care made him fetch for more blocks to strengthen his home when the wind started.

She added that his son was assisted by two family members when the incident happened.

“We are not sure what has happened to him, we are awaiting the post-mortem to determine the cause.”

The wife of the victim, Virisila Musu said: “My husband was a caring man, and he was looking forward to our next child. We will all miss him.”

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said Police were waiting for the post-mortem result.

“The post-mortem is yet to be carried out and once it is done, we can know the cause of his death.”

He is survived by his seven-month pregnant wife, Virisila Musu, and two children Jovesi Roqiqii Jnr and Eleni Nabaro.
