Yaadein Vision Group, Fiji Scouts Movements (Messenger of Peace Fiji) and United Fiji Community have joined forces to organise relief efforts for victims of TC Keni and TC Josie.

Yaadein Vision is a global charity organisation founded 18 years ago to assist people in need. The organisation is operating in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, United States and Fiji.

Yaadein Vision International director Bobby Mishra, said they have been assisting people in Fiji after natural disasters and they have been contributing to the education sector as well since then.

He said, “We will continue to do this since we have Fiji at heart. What we have learned overseas is that we still need to assist Fijians back home.”

Yesterday the team started the distribution of 800 food ration packs, kerosene stoves, mattresses, pots and solar panels and generators to Fijians affected by tropical cyclone Josie and Keni.

They have started distribution in affected areas in Nawaka, Korociri Road and Qeleloa Road in Nadi, Ba, Tavua and Lautoka this weekend.

Messenger of Peace Fiji Coordinator Kailash Pillay said, “We have brought in Fiji Scouts to join because there are certain areas where vehicles cannot reach.”

He said phase two would include the distribution of stationery packs to those affected on Monday.

Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum praised the team’s effort in assisting affected Fijians and also to give back to their roots.

Meanwhile, the A-G officiated at the handing over of a cheque of $108,000 from Yaadein Vision Australia to Yaadein Vision Fiji for the proposed school project in Korovuto.
