The Saint Stanislaus’ College Under-18 rugby team from Australia is in the country on a mission. The College wants to establish closer relationships with local schools through rugby. Last Saturday they played Cuvu College in Sigatoka, where they drew 19-19.

Coach Jack English said they are preparing for their next game against Lelean Memorial School on Tuesday.

“There is still a lot of work to be done,” he said. “We are trying to establish relationships with the schools as we play them, building contacts and maybe in the next two years schools from Fiji can visit us in Australia,” he said.

“It was a very tough game against Cuvu and the boys had a couple of bruises but it was all played in good spirits. We were very good in the breakdown and ball retention but we need to work on our set pieces, kickoff and our lineouts.”

English added that they will be visiting St Vincent’s College, Queen Victoria School and Ratu Kadavulevu School.

“It will be good for the boys to experience different cultures and we have ten days, so we are looking forward to travelling to the remote parts of Fiji and doing some community work and repairs as well.”
