Changes In Command Leadership For Police

New appointments have been made, resulting in the change of command for two major divisions.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdul Khan has been appointed the new Divisional Police Commander South, taking over from SSP Tevita Waqabaca who takes up his new role as the Director Internal Affairs based at the Fiji Police Headquarters.

Taking over from SSP Khan, who previously held the post of DPC West, is SSP Verani Nakauyaca who previously held the post of Divisional Police Commander North.

The previous week SSP Eparama Waqa, who previously held the post of DPC East, took over from SSP Nakauyaca as the new DPC North.

Officiating the official handing over this past week Chief Operations Officer Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Maretino Qiolevu said the appointments reflected the trust the Commissioner had in the senior officers’ ability to perform the demanding role of leading a division and an important unit for the organisation.

A/ACP Qiolevu called on the officers of the two divisions to respect the appointments and support the work of their newly-appointed commanders.

He added change was never easy and the support rendered to those in command would benefit the organisation as a whole.
