Saint Joseph’s Secondary School is going to field 46 athletes at the Coca-Cola Games which starts on Thursday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Among them are top girl’s intermediate runners Heleina Young and Braelyn Yee, who are going to run in the 100metres, 200m and 4x100m relay.

Young recorded her personal best time of 57.68 seconds in the 400m during the Easter Games. During training yesterday she was anchoring their 4x100m relay.

Speaking to SUNsports, Young said there has been a lot of pressure from other schools but that would not deter them for achieving their aim.

“This year our school has the largest number of athletes participating.

“Most of the girls have been doing off season training so it has been going well and we are well prepared.

“We have been feeling a lot of pressure from other schools and we feel this year will be more competitive compared to last year.

“The aim this year is to bring the name of St Joseph’s back to the limelight, we hope to make ourselves known again and better our performance from previous years.

“We look at all schools as competitors and we will not take anyone lightly,” she added.
