Two grandchildren receive top academic awards at Waitui Cluster Presentation

Pita Baro believes in the value of education and the importance of God in people’s lives.

The Lomanikoro grandfather in Rewa testified that they had taught their grandchildren this value.

On Tuesday, Mr Baro received the Delaibatiki Shield on behalf of his grandson, Tevita Moimoi (Rewa District School), as the top Year 8 student last year in the Waitui Cluster. Moimoi is now studying at Queen Victoria School in Matavatucou.

The cluster comprises four primary schools, Rewa District School, Vutia District School, Nukui District School and St Joseph Naililili.

Mr Baro’s granddaughter, Timaleti Rakaria, also of Rewa District School, took the third prize.

The second prize went to Mikaele Kaloucava (Nukui District School), now studying at Ratu Kadavulevu School in Lodoni, Tailevu,

Mr Baro said they had been nurturing the two children “in the ways of God and stressing that education is the key that opens doors to opportunities in life.”
