Twenty soldiers from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) started distributing rations in Kadavu yesterday.

According to the military chief staff officer co-ordination, Captain Eroni Duaibe, the 20 soldiers arrived on the island on board the Lomaiviti Princess II with the rations.

“They started distributing the rations to those affected from today. They will return to Suva on Saturday,” he said.

On the progress of cleanup work, Captain Duaibe said most of their work was completed. A group, he said, worked at the Ravitaki Health Centre. They also cleaned up at the Vunisea Health Centre.

The soldiers deployed to Kadavu will return to Suva via the Lomaiviti Princess II. Captain Duaibe said 13 soldiers with the Government assessment team would remain with the team. Edited by Jonathan Bryce
