University of Fiji (UniFiji) medical students now have access to more books after receiving a donation of $20,000 worth of reading material by Value City (SP) Ltd.

The university’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences Dean Dr Elick Narayan said that Value City’s timely contribution would be beneficial for their aspiring medical students.

“It is very much appreciated because medical books are hard to come by, they are very expensive and makes it difficult for medical students to get them,” Dr Narayan said.

He said the contribution of books was a real booster in terms of helping their students broadening their knowledge in the medical field.

A total of 69 cartons containing more than 300 medical books were handed over at the UniFiji Library, at Saweni, outside Lautoka, adding to the two previous sets of books given by Value City (SP) Ltd.

“In our quest to attain academic excellence and build a knowledgeable society these books will play a pivotal role on delivering what we promised,” Dr Narayan said.

He said it also ensured that their students had access to a wider range of medical literature at their disposal.
