A 42-year-old motorcyclist is recovering at the Lautoka Hospital with injuries after being involved in a three-vehicle smash up along Wailoaloa Road in Nadi yesterday morning.

Police Media (west) Sergeant Wame Bautolu confirmed that two vehicles collided at Enamanu Road and one vehicle fell to its side and got dragged for a couple of metres before colliding with the oncoming motorcycle.

“The 42-year-old motorcycle rider was rushed to Nadi Hospital and later to Lautoka Hospital where he is being admitted in stable condition,” he said.

The incident happened around 7.30am.

The two drivers were interviewed by Police officers and released, pending further investigations.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident at about 9.50am, two vehicles collided at the junction of the old Lautoka Hospital Road and three people are now being admitted at the Lautoka Hospital.

Investigations into these accidents are continuing.

Police are advising drivers to be more vigilant because there will be a lot of movement expected on the road during this time of the year.

Sergeant Bautolu said, “It’s the start of the school holidays and students will be moving around and drivers are reminded to be careful when driving”.
