The Henry Fa’arodo captained- Marist Football Club from the Solomon Islands are expecting a tough encounter against the Vodafone Lautoka FC in the OFC Champions League semifinal clash at Churchill Park, Lautoka, tomorrow.

The Marist FC side arrived last night looking forward to making their debut on Fijian soil.

“It will be a tough one as both teams have a different type of set-up but it will be a close game,” Fa’arodo said.

“For the fans it will be good for them to come out and watch. There is going to be fireworks knowing that a Solomon Islander is playing for Lautoka and it will be an interesting duel.”

The Marist FC side are made up of local players in Honiara with the inclusion of tough Papua New Guinea defender Koriak Upaiga.

Other notable names are Timothy Pakale, Jeffery Bule, Michael Voso, and young players who have excelled in the youth level.

“For us the preparation has been going very well especially coming from a hard fought quarterfinal. “The spirit in the camp is very high, we know the battle will be a tough one and we’ve prepared well for it.

“For us basically is to work on our strength and be more organised in every step we take. The more organised, the easier for players to understand the role they play.”

Marist FC is based in Honiara. They were the 2006/07 Solomon Islands National Club Championship winners. They qualified for the Oceania Club Championship in 2006 hosted in Auckland, New Zealand. The clash kicks-off at 3pm.
