Natabua High School sprinter Shane Tuvusa defended his blue ribbon title after he clocked 10.73 secs in the senior boys’ 100 metres final last night.

However, he failed to break the 100m record of 10.43s which was set by Marist Brothers High School’s Banuve Tabakaucoro in 2011.

MBHS’s top bet Tony Lemeki pulled a hamstring close to the finishing line.

Tuvusa said commitment towards training has finally been paid off.

The Natalecake, Ba villager was determined to win.

“I was confident I would win the event and I told myself I can do it,” Tuvusa said.

“Also my positive attitude towards training has assisted me. I am always dedicated to my training as I started preparing during the off-season.

“I dedicate this win to the school,” he added.
