The start of the Fiji Nursing Association’s 61st Annual General Meeting was delayed yesterday until a quorum was finally confirmed..

Gathered at the Novotel Suva Lami Bay conference centre from April 26-27 for a nursing symposium, it was around 5pm yesterday afternoon that members of the forum were informed that the AGM could not start without meeting the quorum.

The number to meet the quorum is expected to be 237 members, and the association was 15 members short.

By 5.20pm it was observed that nurses from the Central Division were flocking in to ensure the AGM could be held.

Later on, members were informed that they were only left with two FNA members to meet the quorum.

By this time, the members gathered to discuss the financial statements informally.

It was around 6pm that the council formally declared the quorum had been met with 238 members present and the AGM was declared open.

However, as the agenda and standing orders were asked to be moved by the association President Alisi Vudiniabola, a member raised that the forum was late and asked that the agenda be amended and parts of the agenda to be discussed in the next AGM.

It was seconded and the first discussion of the financial statements continued.
