Different issues were raised by Nabouwalu district advisory councillor Sujata Singh when Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama asked if anyone had any questions for him.

This was after he was briefed at Naulumatua House in Nabouwalu yesterday about damage done in the Northern Division during Tropical cyclones Josie and Keni.

Ms Singh was able to raise issues that affected the people of Nabouwalu.

“The Nabouwalu ice plant has not been working for the past six months. There are three mortuary beds at Nabouwalu Subdivisional Hospital and only two are working and I hope that four more could be provided because sometimes bodies have to be taken to Labasa Hospital,” Ms Singh said.

“There is also a need for expansion of Lekutu subdivisional Hospital because it is overcrowded and Nabouwalu subdivisional Hospital also needs more quarters for staff because of less space.”

Prime Minister Bainimarama said that he would look into the issues raised by Ms Singh.

“All the issues that you have raised will be looked into by the departments concerned and we will make sure your concerns are addressed,” he said.

“These issues should be coming from officers in charge of these areas and not from the advisory council. I want reports from the sub-divisional medical officer for Nabouwalu and relevant ministries.”

Mr Bainimarama has urged officers to gather all the information in regard to the concerns and to contact the ministries concerned.
