The Then India Sanmarga Ikya (TISI) Sangam College of Nursing library is once again blessed with the donation of books from Books4pngkids facilitated by Value City Limited.

Head of school Kishan Kumar said Value City had been receiving books from an Australian-based organisations and over five years they have been committed in helping the college.

“We have received medical books that are in fact very expensive and difficult to find in Labasa,” Mr Kumar said.

“These books are very helpful not only to students who are doing degree, bridging course and postgraduate studies but also to lecturers because these books contain greater knowledge in depth.

“We are very thankful to the owner of Value City Limited Rosy Chute and her family for making all the shipment arrangement, transportation and choosing to help our school.”

Mrs Chute said they have been working in partnership with Book4pngkids, which was based in Brisbane, Australia.

“They supply us with books so that we can provide to needy educational institutions including secondary schools to help upgrade their libraries,” Mrs Chute said.

“The TISI Sangam College of Nursing is the only nursing institution in Labasa and being originally from Labasa we want to contribute to the development of it.”

“This institution not only serves students from Labasa, but also from other parts of Fiji and we want them to access all kinds of knowledge so that they are equipped well to serve our country.

“That is where my husband, Alick Patrick and I realised the need for donation of books and we want to thank Books4pngkids for their continuous support,” she said.

When asked about the cost of the donation and arrangement, Mrs Chute said anything given from the bottom of the heart didn’t carry a price tag. Over the years they have given more than 500 books. The institution has a student roll of 316.
