Naitasiri secured their sec­ond win in the Skipper Cup Premiership after beating Rewa 22-15 at the Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori, yesterday.

What happened:

Both teams were scoreless in the first quarter. In the 17th minute Rewa halfback Josua Laulauvaki kicked a penalty before Naitasiri’s No.10 Kini Douglas was equalled to the occasion in the 24th minute, 3-3.

Laulauvaki broke through the strong Naitasiri’s defence to score the first try which he converted for Rewa to lead 10-3.

Naitasiri’s Vetaia Tikomailepano­ni managed to score a try just be­fore the breather which was con­verted by Douglas. Halftime: 10-10

Naitasiri showed their strength with Necani Nawaqadau scoring their second try to increase their lead 17-10. Nawaqadau scored his second try in the 53rd minute, 22-10

Laulauvaki scored in the 79th minute but was not enough.

Star turn:

Douglas was spot with his kicking game.


Naitasiri acting coach Ilaitia Tu­isese said the team had a system in place and he was happy with what they have accomplished.

“It was a good game and we were aiming for a win and we did. We are looking forward to the game against Nadroga and Nadi.”

Rewa coach Alivereti Doviverata said;

“We are looking forward to our next game against Malolo.”

In other matches, Naitasiri U20 defeated Rewa 22-10 while the Rewa women defeated Naitasiri 27-5.
