The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) paid their respects to Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Josevata Muakalou as he was laid to rest at his home village in Naila, Tailevu on Friday.

Warrant Officer Class One Muakalou, 56, was a senior instructor at RFMF’s Black Rock Camp Nadi and was in charge of the Middle East pre-deployment training.

He was described as a quiet and hardworking soldier. He served the military for 36 years before his passing on April 27. He was alleged to have been the victim of an incident in Nadi.

A Police report said the late Mr Muakalou was jogging as his normal routine on Queens Road in the morning near the Votualevu Roundabout opposite the Aerotown Service Station when he was allegedly hit by a vehicle.

RFMF Commander Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto and the Speaker of Parliament Dr Jiko Luveni were among those present at the funeral.

Warrant Officer Muakalou is survived by his wife of 29 year, Ane Muakalou, three children and three grandchildren.
