Ratu Kadavulevu School Under-18 players dedicated winning the 2018 Sanix World Rugby Youth Invitational Tournament in Japan to coaching director Nacanieli Saumi and suspended principal, Peni Senikarawa.

Team manager Osea Uluiviti made the comment at the Nadi International Airport last night.

RKs beat Hastings Boys High School of New Zealand 35-5 in the final over the weekend.

“This is simply the hard work of Ratu Kadavulevu School Old Boys, Nacanieli Saumi and Peni Senikarawa.

“The boys just executed what they have been taught and told,”Uluiviti said.

“Naca has proven this again to Fiji and the world.

“The RKS U18 has proven that we can beat schools in the Tier One rugby countries in the world. We were blessed as we beat them all.

“It is interesting how Naca tailored the rugby mindset of the boys. It is like you eating a fully cooked meal, not half-cooked. That’s how I would explain this style and the way the boys love to execute it.”

RKS became the first Fijian school to claim the title surpassing their record of reaching the semi-final in 2002.

“We played six matches in eight days it was a hectic one,” Uluiviti said.

Uluiviti said the next target is defending 2018 Deans Trophy competitions in which they scooped all grades last year.

“We will take each game at a time, the boys are proud and humble at the same time.”

Deans Trophy

RKS won the Deans Trophy for the first time in 1961, shared with Suva Grammar School in 2005.

RKS holds the record for the longest defence of the Deans Trophy from 1980 to 1985. RKS again won the Deans Trophy in 2015. In the 2017 competition, RKS became the first school to win all the trophies on offer..
