Market vendors Soni Lata and Savita Devi always look forward to Mother’s Day because of the affection and love given to them by their respective children.

Having been vendors at Suva market for the past nine years the duo have built a strong friendship.

Fifty-year-old mother of three, Ms Lata usually forgets her worries and feels excited when Mother’s Day approaches.

She said every year her elder daughter and two sons celebrated Mother’s Day with her.

“My second eldest son Shivneel Mani is now living in Auckland, New Zealand and I will miss him on this very special day,” Mrs Lata said.

Daughter Zyda Ali has invited Mrs Lata to her place to celebrate Mother’s Day.

On the other hand Ms Devi has two sons and both always celebrate Mother’s Day by preparing lunch and dinner for her.

“On Mother’s Day my sons prepare lovo for lunch and do my entire house work to make me feel special,” Ms Devi said.

Ms Devi faced  a lot of challenges while raising her sons.

“My husband left me when I was only 25 years old and I raised both sons alone,” she said.

She used to work in a garment factory for her family income in order to send both boys to school.
