Local districts will need to do some serious soul searching if their teams will perform at the OFC Champions League in future, says Christophe Gamel

The Fiji Football head coach made the comment as the Vodafone Lautoka football team arrived yesterday after being thumped by Team Wellington 6-0 on Sunday.

“We need to change a lot of things, we need to work more and all the districts have a big role to play if we are to perform in future,” he said.

“There is a lot of work needed to instil discipline, not only on the field but outside the field as well.

“How can you perform when three of four key players are not available?

Gamel said Lautoka has only five per cent chance of beating Team Wellington in the return leg of the OFC Champions League at Churchill Park in Lautoka this Sunday.

Before the match last Sunday, Gamel said the Blues had a 30 per cent chance of winning.

“We have a 5 per cent chance. The best thing is we have to enjoy our football as we are on the verge of getting eliminated.

‘I really feel sorry for Lautoka officials who gave their best and provided everything for the team.”

Meanwhile, veteran striker Peni Finau and midfielder Zibraaz Shahib are expected to play for the Blues on Sunday.
