Future cooperation and training in anti-narcotics discussed.

The Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho, has completed his visit to the People’s Republic of China with a visit to the Yunnan Police College.

There, he was accorded a guard of honour on arrival at the Institute.

Brigadier-General Qiliho was accompanied by Director Training Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Marika Kotoisuva, Director International Relations SSP Ulaiasi Ravula, Officer in Charge Police Coordination and Command Centre Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mesake Sovasova, PSO Inspector (IP) Aisake Kafoa and the First Secretary at the Fiji Embassy Beijing, Apolosi Lewaqai.

The Commissioner held discussions with senior officials of the Yunnan Police College on future directions for training opportunities for Fiji Police officers.

The Yunnan Public Security Department plays a leading role in anti-narcotics policing and training, and the Commissioner had the opportunity to visit the anti-narcotics training centre and discuss future cooperation in this critical area of policing.

The entourage then visited a checkpoint located outside Kunming City to witness how officers were clearing travellers entering Yunnan from neighbouring countries.

The Commissioner also met Assistant Superintendent of Police Fisi Nasario, who is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Policing, at the Yunnan Police Institute.

Brigadier-General Qiliho thanked the Ministry of Public Security, the Embassy of China in Fiji and the Fiji Embassy in Beijing for facilitating the visit.
