Ba Provincial Free Bird Institute under 15, 16 and 18 rugby teams participating for the Coke Zero Deans competition received major boost yesterday.

The teams received new sporting gears from Japan which would boost their performance in the new rugby season.

School manager Akifumi Kawakami was impressed with the donations.

“Being a former rugby player myself, I saw these players training without shoes so I decided to collect rugby shoes for them in Japan,” Kawakami said.

Ba Provincial Free Bird Institute Special Administrator Meli Tora said they were thankful for this timely contribution made by the rugby clubs from Japan.

These clubs included top Rugby Clubs like IBM and Ricoh.

“We are very lucky to be getting these boots, given the costs of rugby boots these days and some of the boots that we have seen are well known brands like Mizuno,” Tora said.

He said they were very grateful for the assistance and their players really appreciated the kind gesture, for some it would be a good opportunity for them to be wearing boots.

Former Fijian 7s coach Peni Veidreyaki reminded the players of how important it was to incorporate their sporting life, with a life dedicated to God.

“Put God first in everything you do,” Veidreyaki said.
