Dad Inspires Hughes

Rewa football rep Setareki Hughes was inspired by his father when he was 6 years old to become a football player.

The Navunievu, Bua native started his football career as a year one student at Dreketi Primary school as playing football was his dream but his father Leadro Hughes was his biggest inspiration in the sport.

“My parents are my main motivators especially my dad who was a former player for the Bua football side and this was the whole reason why I wanted to play the sport,” Hughes said.

“The family support was one of the main motivator that kept pushing me till now.

Hughes believes joining the Rewa football team was one way the 23 year old would develop his football skills.

“Changing team from Suva to Rewa was a way that I believe is a stepping stone so that I could build up my playing skills to another level.”

The father of one said his main priority at the moment was his small family.

“Right now my baby girl Mere Tanoa and my wife are my main priority.

“Football is the source of income for him and his family.

“At the moment I have sponsors that have been supporting my family when playing football.”
