Acting Deputy Divisional Police Commissioner Northern, Kemueli Baledrokadroka told those present at the Cakaudrove Provincial Meeting that he hopes brutality against Police doesn’t happen in the North.

“This is something that is happening in Viti Levu. Police officers are being abused by the public and we hope that this never happens here,” Acting Deputy DPC Baledrokadroka said.

“The Police officers are your children whose only hope is to bring peace and prosperity to the nation.”

Acting Deputy DPC Baledrokadroka said that with the General Election approaching, they hoped that people do not resort to attacking Police officers.

“We hope that our children in the Police Force, especially those in the Police stations and Police posts in the province are looked after.”

Tackling the rape issue

On the issue of rape, the Acting Deputy DPC Baledrokadroka said: “Is something that we realise cannot be solved until and unless we work together as a nation.

“We hope that this is something we can look into because it is happening to our children, grandchildren and women.”

Monitoring children

Acting Deputy DPC Baledrokadroka also said parents should ensure that their children are in school.

“There are times when parents don’t care about their children not going to school. Parents need to ensure they know the whereabouts of their children. This is one of the main factors of the increased crime rate,” he said.

“Parents must also ensure that they monitor the social media use of their children because there are some contents online that are not suitable for them.”
