The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) chief of staff Brigadier-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai yesterday accepted a Kubota tractor from Nivis Motors donated by Taiwan as part of its technical co-operation assistance.

In accepting the donation, Brigadier General Ro Jone thanked Herman Chiu, the Taiwan Head of Trade Mission in Fiji, for helping the RFMF through its technical co-operation.

“Today is a good day for the RFMF,” he said.

Brigadier General Ro Jone assured Mr Chiu that the Kubota tractor would be put to good use.

The RFMF Veteran’s Farm, he said, would prepare those who were about to retire for how they were going to live after their service.

“If they want to do farming this is where they will learn new farming skills,” Brigadier General Ro Jone said.

He said the RFMF hoped this support would continue.

Mr Chiu said they were happy about their association with the RFMF.

He said they fully supported Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama’s farm initiative – “Integrated Farming System for Military for Life Concept” to prepare those at the RFMF to live a better life after their service.
