Proud parents Naren and Suman Sharma showed their support for their daughter by operating a stall during the week-long Tebara Carnival in Nausori.

Sponsored by Nausori Market, Neha Namrata Sharma’s parents, had opted to open up a stall to raise money for their daughter’s charity chest.

Mr Sharma, 55, is a vegetable farmer and comes around to the Nausori Market to sell his produce two to three times in a week.

They live in Waidalia, Tailevu. Ms Namrata their only daughter has three brothers. This is the first time the family has owned a stall during the Tebara Carnival.

“I have never stopped my children from achieving their dreams. I always advise them, if they ever want to do something, don’t ever achieve it by doing it the wrong way. Always be on the path of truth and my support will never fail,” he said.

At first, Mr Sharma was reluctant to let his daughter participate in the carnival because he was worried about her studies.

“But Neha told me that she could handle both her studies and extra-curricular activities. My daughter told me it was her ambition to be a contestant vying for the crown in this sort of event,” he said.

He then told her to go ahead with her desire, and gave her his full support.

“I have made more than $1000 of profit and have contributed all of it to Neha’s charity,” he said.

“I am very proud to see my daughter on stage. You must work hard and have faith in God.”

Another parent, who rallied full support for her daughter was 57-year-old Ruci Namaraulu.

Ms Namaraulu’s daughter is Miss Ricky’s Investment, Sereima Vautoni. They also had a stall at the Tebara Carnival to contribute to their daughter’s charity chest.
