COME FORWARD, COMPLAIN, PUBLIC URGED

The Fiji Taxi Association is calling on the public to come forward with their complaints if they find that their fares have increased.

It is understood that some taxi drivers hire electricians to tamper with their taxi meters, hence it will charge fares faster for every kilometre covered.

The general secretary for the Fiji Taxi Association, Rishi Ram, said that they had yet to receive complaints about alleged taxi meter tampering.

“This is totally unjustified, if taxi drivers think that they can get away with these kinds of acts,” he said.

“I advise the public if they think that they are being cheated please report this matter to the Police or the Land Transport

Authority.”

Mr Ram said that this matter would be discussed in their Annual General Meeting held on June 24.
