It is a positive sign to see that new hotels continue to be developed.

It shows the continuing growth of the tourism industry.

In the latest development, Nadi Nalagi Hotel and Resort  opened for business last Saturday.

The $23 million investment has got to be one of the most modern and impressive new tourism structures in Fiji.

Constructed mainly by workers from China, Nalagi features 196 modern and spacious rooms and suites, a range of conference facilities for small-medium size groups and events.

Pre-opening, it has catered for business meetings such as the Chinese New Year celebration between the Chinese business forum and the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry in February.

The newest addition to Nadi’s already vast array of tourism destinations is 10 minutes drive from the airport, Denarau Island and Nadi town.

The most successful hotels don’t necessarily cater to a broad audience.

In some cases, a hotel can actually bring in more travellers if it focuses on appealing to a specific type of tourist.

Nalagi Hotel situated on Queens Road can benefit that area in many ways.

It won’t just bring in tourist dollars. It will also create plenty of jobs.

The hotel currently employs 30 full-time staff which will grow to 50 staff once fully operational.

The busier the hotel is, the more people it will be able to hire.

A hotel like this should get plenty of business, especially with the location.

Especially, when it offers business-friendly amenities, and has conference halls that can accommodate large groups.

It could become a hotspot for conventions.

People that attend these conferences will eat at local restaurants, shop at local stores, and bring a lot of money into the area.

While these kinds of perks appeal to the convention audience, these hotels can also accommodate plenty of other guests.

Nadi Nalagi Hotel is the first hotel development by Pincheng Investment (Fiji) Ltd, a subsidiary of Dongcheng Investment Company Pte Limited from Zhe¬jiang province, China.

This is a timely development because it gives tourists more choice of hotels to stay in.

The last thing the tourism industry wants is to have the tourists want to come here, but find that the hotels are fully booked out.

As Fiji’s economy continues to grow and more tourists come here it will put pressure on our infrastructure.

Nadi Nalagi Hotel and Resort is  a welcome development.
