Ba villager Merewalesi Adi aims to be the first woman in her family to successfully establish and solely run her own company.

The 45-year-old took the first step to achieve her dream to become a successful businesswoman.

She was one of the 1039 Micro and Small Business Grants Disbursement recipients who received their approvals from Minister for Trade, Tourism, Land and Mineral Resources Faiyaz Siddiq Koya at the Ba Market Grounds yesterday.

“It is like venturing in to uncharted waters, not knowing what to expect but hoping and praying for the best,” Ms Adi said.

“I know that the road to achieving my goals and living my dreams will not be an easy one, but it is the path she is willing to take in order to provide a better life for her family.

“First thing on my list is buying a cow and the leftover money I will start my yaqona business, so everything will start small and then we will see from there but one thing is for certain, is that I am fully committed in nurturing, developing, growing and grooming my business.”

Ms Adi will compete with four other canteens in the village, but according to her she was not intimidated by that fact but would rather be working harder than ever before.

Furthermore, the mother of two said, she waited long enough and was ready for whatever may be coming towards her way.

“The improvement in my business will greatly boost our family’s success and standard of living because that is the whole reason behind this application, that is making a better life for my family,” Ms Adi said

She thanked Government for its timely support and assistance to aspiring business-minded Fijians.
