Four soldiers charged with sexual assault and rape of a female officer are awaiting their trial in a court martial.

The alleged rape and assault case was reported in March this year.

Republic of Fiji Military Force (RFMF) Chief of Staff, Brigadier-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai said the Military Police had finalised their investigation and they were awaiting the availability of the judge to begin the court martial.

He said the court martial proceedings would start soon on a date to be confirmed.

All the four accused are still members of the RFMF, Brigadier-General Ro Jone said.

“The disciplinary measures have been taken into action for all the four accused and are now ready for the court martial to begin.

“We are following the normal military procedure in terms of investigation and discipline of these cases,” Brigadier-General Ro Jone said.
