Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama believes the Gareth Baber-coached Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team can record their sixth tournament win in the World Sevens Series in Paris this weekend.

The victory will certainly set an all-time record for six wins by Fiji in a single series.

He said the Seremaia Tuwai captained team needs another superstar performance after taking London by storm over the weekend.

Bainimarama while speaking at the opening of the new Nadi international Airport has urged all Fijians to back the team.

“It’s that same sense of pride we all felt very early Monday morning after watching our sevens stars take victory at the London Sevens,”he said.

“It’s the first time Fiji has won that tournament in six years.

“We are now solidly leading the sevens series, but we need another superstar performance in Paris. So congratulations to our boys, and let’s all get behind them as we look ahead to close out the Sevens series.”

Meanwhile, three Fijians are in the 2018 London 7s Dream Team.

They are Paula Dranisinukala, Josua Tuisova and Semi Radradra.  The others are Mike Ellery (England), Dylan Sage (South Africa), Jordan Conroy (Ireland), and Mark Roche (Ireland).

Fiji lead the World Series on 167 points, seven better than South Africa while New Zealand on 133.

In Paris pool play, Fiji play Samoa at 10.30pm on Saturday, Kenya at 11.46pm and New Zealand at 5.14am on Sunday.
