The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) is inviting tenders from reputable vendors to carry out its job evaluation exercise.

Chairman of the new MSAF Board David Kolitagane said the exercise would be done for the whole organisation.

He said the last evaluation was done in 2015, but in his view it was not done properly.

“It was done, but not for the whole organisation. It only looked at few positions,” Mr Kolitagane said.

“In that way I think it was not fair for the other staff.”

Mr Kolitagane added that the next evaluation would start from the drivers to the chief executive officer.

He added that it might cost money, but it needed to be done properly.

It will be one of the most comprehensive job evaluation exercises for the whole organisation since it was last established, Mr Kolitagane said.

He said the evaluation was long overdue and the issue was raised with the ministry about November last year.

Mr Kolitagane added that the most important thing was for the staff to see and feel that they were well taken care of.
