Glittering smiles appeared on the faces of the Fiji Agape Mission School swimming team as they celebrated their recent Fiji National Schools Swimming Championship achievements yesterday.

The private Christian school based- in Votualevu, Nadi fielded a record number of 44 swimmers for the championship at the Damodar Aquatic Centre in Suva two weeks ago.

Swimming co-coach Michelle Emberson- Duikete said their participation this year was a grand success considering the school roll.

“This year we had the biggest number of swimmers of 44 which surpassed 13 swimmers in 2016 and 26 swimmers last year,” she said.

“This was due to the success of last year whereby we moved our students to join the swimming clubs in Nadi as part of the development programme.  his inspired other students to take up the sport which is a progression plan.”

Duikete added that this year they attracted 15 swimmers who made their debut in the event and did wonders as far as competition is concerned.

“This year the event has been very competitive. They tallied and we discovered great swimmers especially in the western division.”

She said about 10 records were broken including those records that stood for around a decade.

Some remarkable swimmers include Fai Moss, Marseleima Moss, Francis Atchison, Kalaveti Duikete, Kaylia Duikete, Niconia Wivou, Genesis Stice, Senia Mua, Lucas Nicolaus, Kakala Osborne and Kael Schumacher who will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years.
