 Hearing Date For Bulitavu, Karunaratne To Be Set Next Week Friday

 They are serving prison sentences after being convicted for sedition on April 30, 2018.

The hearing date for the appeal against sentence and convic­tion filed by the former SO­DELPA Opposition Member of Par­liament, Mosese Bulitavu, 35, and businessman Jagath Karunaratne, 50, will be set on June 22, 2018.

Bulitavu and Karunaratne ap­peared in the High Court in Suva yesterday before Justice Vinsent Perera.

Bulitavu is represented by law­yer Barbara Malimali while Karunaratne is represented by Fili­moni Vosarogo.

Parties were informed that the court had received the Magistrates Court record and was in the process of verifying it.

On the last occasion Mr Vosarogo had informed the court that he would be advancing an application for bail pending appeal for his cli­ent.

Bulitavu and Karunaratne are serving prison sentences after being convicted for sedition.

Bulitavu was sentenced to two years five months and 13 days im­prisonment, while Karunaratne was sentenced to two years five months and 16 days imprisonment.

They were sentenced on April 30, 2018 in the Suva Magistrates Court.
