AZA by Zulfikar Ali was a success at the 2018 Bottega Gold Fijian Fashion Festival.

The Tappoo exclusive AZA that is synonymous with luxury has dressed some of the most successful members of the Fijian society and still does.

Mr Ali’s collection this year for the Bottega Gold Fijian Fashion Festival was a fusion of eastern and western hues.

“Inspired by the theme of the Festival itself as it was a celebration of two cultures,” said Mr Ali.

“The entire collection consisted of 55 pieces of which 41 looks were for ladies and 14 looks for men.

“I always wondered how I could make men’s collection look different from the usual Indian kurta pyjama, so I decided to add some western touch to it by with a tuxedo waist coat and jacket.

“To my surprise that concept worked and was everyone’s favourite.

“My target market is more meduim to high end clients both local and international.

“More than 20 pieces were already sold within a week after the show. “We are also receiving orders from overseas,”

He said it was a wonderful experience to be part of the first festival particularly having an individual show.

“The crowd absolutely loved the collection and also commented on the standard of the show,” Mr Ali said.

“It was definitely beyond their expectation and for the first time I got a standing ovation.

“This was really an emotional moment for me.

“Definitely looking forward to be part of the Festival next year.”

The festival is also a not for profit, industry owned platform.

They are committed to the values of diversity, inclusion, growth, youth empowerment, and above all Small to Medium Enterprises development in the creative sector through the fashion industry.

It was held on June 1 and 2 at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva.
