The Highlanders will have to be at their best when they take on the Chiefs in the Super Rugby clash at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, next Saturday.

Both teams will be out gunning for a win to secure their spot in this year’s Super Rugby quarterfinals playoff.

Highlanders coach, Aaron Mauger in an earlier interview indicated that they need to be at their best.

“You have to be prepared to play anyone, anywhere, at any time,” the former All Blacks star centre said.

The Highlanders have welcomed the return of blindside flanker Liam Squire who recently played for the All Blacks along with Waisake Naholo, world’s best halfback Aaron Smith, Lima Sopoaga, Elliot Dixon, enterprising fullback Ben Smith and Shannon Frizell who is making his All Blacks debut tonight.

Last night, Mauger tested the rest of his squad in their clash against the French Barbarians as he looks at bringing his best players for the Suva showdown.

The Highlanders’ front row stocks have been boosted with the return of Siate Tokolahi from a leg injury.

“Siate is an extremely important member of our side and he has worked extremely hard to get himself back and fit for this game, so he is going to be important for us going forward.” Tokolahi will pack down with Ash Dixon and Aki Seiuli.

This is a chance for experienced campaigners Richard Buckman and Matt Faddes to be called up into starting spots in the backline alongside regular starters Rob Thompson, Tevita Li and Lima Sopoaga.
