Reverend Josevata Tikonatabua’s message was quite clear and got the congregation hooked during his sermon at the Fiji Corrections Service quarterly church service.

Whenever one was in a difficult situation, seeking help, identifying, and looking at alternatives could solve the problem.

The FCS Chaplin was preaching to correctional officers at Lambert Hall yesterday.

He stressed that they all had problems and that it was a fact of life. He said problem solving was the act of defining a problem; determining the cause of the problem; identifying, prioritizing and selecting alternatives for a solution; and implementing a solution.

Reverend Tikonatabua related the of a young man asking an elderly – What is life’s heaviest burden? The elderly answered – Having nothing to carry.

When facing problems he said they had to find alternatives for the solution.

For some, he said, when they found no solution, this led them to make negative decisions that could see them losing their jobs or even losing their lives.

He reminded the Corrections Officers that they should involve others in solving problems.

The top four officers – Commissioner Corrections Commander Francis Kean, Deputy Commissioner Apimeleki Taukei, Assistant Commissioner Operations Salote Panapasa, Assistant Commissioner Corporate Salesia Racaca and other senior officers – also attended the service.
