The preparation of its 2019-2020 Budget was top of the agenda during the Lomaiviti Provincial Council meeting, which started on Tuesday at Nasova, Levuka.

This was confirmed by the Roko Tui Lomaiviti, Penijamini Tokaduadua yesterday.

Once it is endorsed by the council, the 2019-2020 Budget for the province will then be sent to the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs.

“We usually prepare our budget one year ahead and we need contributions from the district representatives,” Mr Tokaduadua said.

“District representatives will be submitting their reports on Government developments in their villages during the meeting.

“The council will also discuss future developments within the province.”

The Lomaiviti Provincial Council also thanked the Government for helping them through the relief and rehabilitation work it conducted after the recent natural disasters.

“Government has lifted the living standard in the province,” he said.

The Ministry of iTaukei Affairs Deputy Permanent Secretary Josefa Toganivalu was chief guest.

Mr Toganivalu, in his opening address, stressed the five pillars of the ministry that include good governance and well-being, economic empowerment, conservation and climate change, the vanua and traditional leadership.
