Watisoni Ratulevu congratulated the Northland players for getting the job done at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday.

Northland beat Yasawa 29-19 in the Voda­fone Vanua Championship semifinal to se­cure a spot in the 2019 Skipper Cup Premier­ship competition.

“We achieved what we aimed for from the start,”the Northland coach said.

“It’s our mission, and as a coach, one of my aims was to get Northland back to the top. I congratulate the boys for getting the job done.

“But more work needs to be done before we face Tailevu in the final.”

What happened:

In the 5th minute Yasawa drew first blood with a try to wing Semi Rokodinono which was not converted.

In the 28th minute Alifereti Mocelutu kicked a penalty for Northland followed by a try in the 35th minute to openside flanker Kemueli Narai which was converted.

Yasawa scored their second try in the 40th minute by second five –eighth Josua Tuidri­va which was converted by first five –eighth Mesake Saukuru.

Halftime: Yasawa 12-10 Northland

Both teams gave their all in the second spell with Northland kicking four penalties and scoring a try which was converted.

Yasawa scored a try which was converted.

Fulltime: Northland 29-19 Yasawa

Big Play: On Northland’s try in the 57th minute by Josua Yavala, it took the fight out of Yasawa.

Comments: Yasawa coach Seru Rogo said;

“Making it through to the semifinal is a big achievement for the team and I want to thank the players.”.

Meanwhile, the Serua U20 beat Ovalau U20 18-17.
