Benina Cirivesi, a resident of the Samabula Golden Age Citizens Home, has turned 102.

The Gau woman who has been a resident since 2009 attributed her health and long life to God.

Speaking to her family and friends at the Home in Samabula, Ms Cirivesi encouraged them to keep believing in the Lord and have faith in him.

The elderly citizen was overwhelmed with joy as she received her birthday present from the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa, Permanent Secretary Dr Josefa Koroivueta and their team.

Ms Cirivesi’s only child, a daughter, passed away at the age of 9.

Her husband passed away years ago.

Dr Koroivueta said: “People are now struggling with life. We need to have a very good relationship with God and we need to take good care of our health to live long.”

He highlighted that in the next financial year, they will be upgrading the Home facilities.

Also there is money allocated for the new Golden Age Citizen’s Home to be constructed.
