Opposition MP Parmod Chand of the National Federation Party was forced to withdraw a statement he made in Parliament after a point of order was made.

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum yesterday labelled Mr Chand’s response to the 2018-2019 National Budget as “factually incorrect”.

Mr Chand had earlier claimed that the Government forced the people of the Western Division to pay for health care and that the very same pockets shackled by the high cost of living in the West were expected to fork out more.

Raising the point of order, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the claims made by the Opposition MP were incorrect.

“He said that we are now going to force the people in the Western Division to pay for medical services which they are currently not paying for. That is factually incorrect,” the A-G said.

“Like his leader, they pulling out all these supposed facts that are factually incorrect; he is misleading Parliament.”

Mr Chand then withdraw his statement after repeatedly being told by Speaker to Parliament Dr Jiko Luveni to do so.
