World Rugby will make a final decision on Fiji hosting a leg of the 2019-20 World Sevens Series later this month, says Laisenia Tuitubou.

The Minister for Youths and Sports made the comment yesterday.

World Rugby should have made the decision on June 28 but they could be considering other options.

“The decision on Fiji hosting a sevens leg will be made at the end of the month,”Tuitubou said.

“We have 50 per cent chance of hosting it one year and New Zealand the next year. But World Rugby will make the final say.”

He also highlighted the development of playing grounds in the maritime zones.

Kadavu and Sawaieke have received allocation in the 2018/2019 Budget.

“Now in its stage three, the Kadavu Stadium is being constructed under the Ministry of Infrastructure,”Tuitubou said.

“The one in Sawaieke is being constructed by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces engineers as from last year and it has been allocated $1m this year.”
